A New Drug Is Equal To the Sales of 3 Million Cars

Analysts claim that the development of a new drug with world wide sale potential can earn as much profit as the sale of 3 million cars.
The Drug R&D Association (DRDA) released on September 6 a report on the economic effect by a new drug development. DRDA estimated that the average net profits earned by developing the world's top 100 drugs was 300 billion won (average sales volume was 1 trillion won). These amounts are equal to the net profits which Korea's five car makers including Hyundai Motor Co earned by selling 3 million cars last year.
As of the end of August, the new drugs which Korean drug companies are now developing include 120 different kinds of drug and among them 20 drug are now under clinical trials.
