Which Bank Has the Greatest Assets?

Which bank has the greatest assets among all Korean banks? The merger of the Korea Long term Credit Bank and Kookmin Bank agreed to on September 9, has prompted this question. The answer is that the newly born bank created after the merger between the Commercial Bank of Korea and Hanil Bank will be the first on the assets lists.
On the basis of calculations done by the Banking Supervisory Authority (BSA), the current assets of the Commercial Bank of Korea are 45.31 trillion won, Hanil 50.87 trillion won, Kookmin 60.49 trillion won and the Long term Credit Bank 24.13 trillion won. Therefore, the assets of the new bank created by the merger between the Commercial Bank and Hanil Bank reach 96.12 trillion won which is 11.5 trillion won more than that the 84.62 trillion now shared between Kookmin and Long term Credit Bank.
Long term Credit Bank announced its assets to be as much 36.45 trillion won, including its investment for securities, depreciation reserves and other asset accounts, 12.3 trillion won more than the assets calculated by BSA . On this basis, the assets of other banks will increase, too. Therefore, the scale of the assets of the newly merged Commercial Bank and Hanil Banks still remains the largest among all Korean banks.
