UA to Resume Flights to Korea

Sept 11,1998
Among those international airlines who closed their Korean routes since the International Monetary Fund bailout last December, the United Airlines (USA) is the first one to reinstate its flights to Seoul. UA said on September 10 that it will restart its Seoul-Osaka round trip service, which was discontinued last July, from September 25 with daily flights. In addition, they will add a Seoul-Tokyo route five times a week. However it will be next year at the earliest that the Seoul-San Francisco route will resume.
Before Korea's economic turbulence the number of international airlines serving the country was 39 with 333 flights per week, this has now declined to 30 companies with 286 flights.
