GNP Takes to the Streets

The opposition Grand National Party (GNP) started its struggle against ruling the National Congress for New Politics (NCNP)'s recruitment of GNP's representatives. Rather than utilizing the halls of the National Assembly the GNP held an outdoor rally protesting against the NCNP on September 11 in Inchon.
Lee Hoi Chang, the chairman of the GNP canceled his plan to visit economic organizations to participate in this rally. Lee said, 'NCNP investigated relatively small acts of corruption by GNP representatives and local government chiefs and threatened them for joining the NCNP. The politics of the NCNP has to be termed not simply a dictatorship but a reign of terror.' He added, 'We should unite against NCNP. We cannot be a defeated party.' GNP will make every effort to institute a 'special prosecutor' for the ongoing investigation on politicians and will present related bills to the National Assembly.
