President Kim Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

President Kim Dae Jung has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year, Chong Wa Dae(the Blue House) said on September 13, citing a Reuters report from Oslo, Norway.
Reuters reported 139 candidates including President Kim have been nominated for the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize.
Northern Ireland's peace settlement and Czech President Vaclav Havel are among the front runners for the reward,some committe watchers were quoted as saying.
Northern Ireland's peace deal was designed to end 30 years of sectarian and political conflict that has cost more than 36,000 lives.
President Havel could be a popular choice as he has been a favorite since leading the 1968 'Prague Spring' and 'the Velvet Revolution' in 1989.
U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and U.S. President Bill Clinton are believed to be nominated.
The committe is to make a final dicision on October 2, and the winner will receive 950,000 dollars.
