Gun Shots at Hospital

The police fired gun shots at a hospital in the process of arresting an auto theft suspect. On the afternoon of September 13, the police found a stolen car and laid in ambush for the driver of the car. The culprit appeared after three hours and the police blocked the way of the car with the patrol car. Then, the culprit turned his car to other way to run away and the police chased him.
The fleeing suspect drove into the Seoul National University Hospital area and crashed into another car and a hospital column. He got out the car to enter the endoscope room of the hospital and there made a stand against the police. Despite the persuasion of the police, he broke a window and threatened suicide.
Then, the police fired gun shots at his thigh and were able to arrest him. About one hundred people including patients and their families were surprised by the gun shots and took shelter outside the hospital. Recently, because of the police's failure to capture noted criminal Shin Chang Won, they have used a great deal of force in making arrests. Thus this type of shoot-out has been occurring with greater frequency.
