German President Visits Korea

Korean president Kim Dae Jung met German federal president Roman Herzog on September 15 at the Blue House(Chong Wa Dae) to discuss the Northeast Asian situation and bilateral economic cooperation.
After the summit meeting, both presidents held a press conference and had dinner at the Blue House.
Herzog's visit is the third for a German president and the first official national guest for Kim Dae Jung's administration. He brought 30 major German business groups' delegates with him and they will attend a Korean-German joint economic meeting.
President Herzog will meet Park Jun Kyu, the Speaker of the National Assembly on September 16 and participate in an informal meeting in which leading academics will discuss a variety of issues. President Herzog will also attend a luncheon hosted by Korean business leaders. His itinerary also includes a visit to the German company BASF in Ulsan before he departs on September 19.
