Pres. Kim Wants Liaison Office between NK and the US

President Kim Dae Jung said on September 15 that he wanted a liaison office between North Korea and the US soon, in an interview with a German newspaper. He also said, 'We want other countries including Germany and Japan to improve relations with the North assuming discussion takes place with the South in advance.'
Kim commented, 'The North seems to consider any dialogue with the South as a threat to its survival but we want to maintain a dialogue channel through the four party talks.' He hinted at governmental dialogues in business fields by saying, 'Economic cooperation and exchanges with the North will not be limited to the private sector.' In regards to Kim Jong Il's visit to China, 'Kim Jong Il needs to see the development in China through free market system.'
