3 Big Carmakers Can Be Just as Competitive
Park Tae Young, industry minister, said on September 16, 'It would not be problematic whether the structure of the Korean car industry will have two big carmakers or three in order to be competitive in world car markets.'Minister Park responded to a question related to how to improve the competitiveness in the car industry, 'The competitiveness of the carmakers depends on the differentiation of car products,not on the number of carmakers.'
His remarks are interpreted to mean the government does not agree on Hyundai and Daewoo Motors hopes that 2 big carmakers would be desirable.
