Gov"t to spend 1.4 Trillion Won For SOC

The government will spend 1.4 trillion won in additional budget expenditures starting this week for the construction of various Social Overhead Capitals (SOCs) including highways, airports and railways.
The Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced on September 19 that it would spend 500 billion won for the construction of highways including the West-Coast Highway and 290 billion won for national roads.
It plans to spend 250 billion won for the construction for the new international airport at Inchon and 110 billion won for the Seoul-Pusan High-speed Railway.
Moreover, it will spend 139 billion won for ordinary railways, 70 billion won for waterworks, 40 billion won for efficient irrigation and 30 billion won for dam construction.
Affiliates in the constrution industry are expecting that this governmental expenditure will result in an economic boost.
