The 3rd Pusan International Film Festival Opens on Sep. 24.

The 3rd Pusan International Film Festival(PIFF) opens on September 24 in Pusan, Korea.
Two hundred twelve films from 41 countries will be shown during this non-competitive film festival , which runs until October 1.
President Kim Dae Jung will give a congratulatory message on a large screen for the opening ceremony, which will be held at the Pusan Yachting Center Outdoor Theater starting at 7:35 p.m. Moon Jung Soo, the Chairman of the PIFF Organizing Committee, will give the opening address to a crowd of 5,000 film lovers. The opening film will be 'The Silence' directed by Mohsen Makhmalbaf of Iran; 210 films later, Japanese director Imamura Shohei's 'Kanzo Sensei' will close the international festival.
In the last two years, the festival has emerged as one of Asia's strongest film festivals both as a showcase for Asian cinema and as a marketplace for distributors and filmakers. PIFF has also greatly contributed to the promotion of Korean films, which is proven with just a glance at the list of Korean films invited to many international film festivals. This year's launch of the Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP) is expected to help form a new Asian film market by bringing together independent Asian film projects in need of funding with funding sources from the world over.
The venues for the festival are the Academy, Pusan (1, 2, 3), Jeil, Kukdo and Puyoung theaters, and the Pusan Yachting Center Outdoor Theater for outdoor screenings.
Each theater will have 4-5 screenings a day, except the outdoor theater which will have two or three. Each film will have 2-3 screenings during the festival. The Outdoor Theater will present a fantastic viewing experience with a selection of popular films from all over the world.
Ticket prices are ₩4,000 per movie except for opening and closing ceremony(₩8,000).
