Dysentery Outbreak over Country
Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) announced on September 23 that the number of amoebic dysentery patients reached 126, nation-wide. A source at MOHW said, 'As of now, 181 are under treatment in hospital and another 450 are predicted to possibly contract the disease.'MOHW dispatched an investigation team to Wonju and Kangnung region and is chasing the bacteria's route before it spreads. MOHW explained that this disease appeared through contaminated food or water. In regards to this, the medical facilities and affiliated agencies fortified the monitoring systems and quarantined patients to prevent the further infection of other people. A source at MOHW said, 'The disease is highly infectious among group food service, like cafeterias. '
