Legendary Calligraphy Made Public

A masterpiece of Han Sok Bong (A.D.1543-1605), a legendary calligraphy artists in the mid-Chosun Dynasty was opened to the public on September 23. The name of the masterpiece is 'Letter of Mt. Kumgang Tour' made by Han and Choi Lip, a famous writer of the same era.
Han and Choi made this masterpiece after they travelled together in August 1603. The work is 20 cm. in width by 25.5 cm. in lengyh, and 12 pages long. The first six pages were composed by Choi Lip about the Mt. Kumgang tour and the latter six pages were made by another famous writer Lee Ho Min expressing his sorrow and regret for not joining them.
Lee Wan Woo, an expert on Han Sok Bong said, 'I heard about this masterpiece but it's the first time that I have seen it. Han did this calligraphy two years before he died. This is so exquisite that we can expect it only from Han.' Han was good at all types of calligraphy but he used just two kinds in this piece. Do Jong Hyun who made it public said, 'Recently Mt. Kumgang tourism is attracting people due to North Korea's more open policy. I hope Mt. Kumgang tourists can have a broad mind like ancient Sonbis (Confucius intellectuals) after they look at this masterpiece.'
