Investigation Getting Hotter in Political and Economical Sector

The Ministry of Justice on September 24 announced that they prohibited the departure of Kim Man Jeh, the former Posco (former Pohang Steel Co.) chairman suspected of embezzlement, on the request of the Board of Audit and Inspection.
The Board is believed to have found Kim's illegal money fund in an audit on governmental officials. A source from the office said, 'We were supposed to finish the inspection September 26, but there occurred some other suspicions which made us prolong the search.'
Starting this week, mobilizing 50 experts, the Board has been eyeing on a massive investigation on all POSCO companies.
In a related anti-corruption drive ,the public prosecutor's office also launched a full-scale investigation of Kim Yoon Hwan, an assemblyman of the opposition Grand National Party(GNP), for illegally managing a political slush fund.
An office spokesman said, 'It is clear that Kim had received 2.8 million dollars from contractors in Kyungsang province, and therefore we are seeking access to all his bank records.'
In response, Lee Hoi Chang, party president of GNP held a press conference for foreign reporters in Seoul and fiercely attacked president Kim Dae Jung, been his antagonist since last year's presidential election, for suppressing his party members not with rationality but with personal animosity.
Amidst such partisan strife the current political climate is becoming worse under a declining economy.
