Human Rights Committee to be Founded

A National Human Rights Committee organized by seven people who have drafted human rights regulations will be formed by the government. It's purpose is to prevent national power groups from infringing on human rights and to rectify any discrimination.
The Ministry of Justice on September 25 publicly announced this new basic human rights code , saying they will send the bill to the National Assembly regular session in November. If smoothly passed, the new bill will be promulgated in December 10th which is the 50th World Human Rights Declaration Day.
Minister Park Sang Chun stated 'This is to guarantee fundamental human rights and for make a country without partiality. Furthermore the rule will be applied to both Koreans abroad and foreigners as well.'
The committee has a right to monitor and charge various kinds of harsh treatment and abuse of power from governmental institutions such as public prosecutors, police, National Security Planning Agency, public officials, and mental hospital staff.
The chairman will be appointed by the president. The board will be formed by eleven directors and should get approval both from the president and the minister of justice.
