Political Standoff Getting Worse

The recent Seoul Station rally reveals how the harsh standoff between the ruling National Congress for New Politics(NCNP) and the opposition Grand National Party(GNP)is becoming more and more severe.
The GNP on September 30 announced that the violence which occurred during the demonstration was 'a serious challenge to democracy'; assuming the government mobilized the instigators.
The GNP cancelled party president Lee Hoi Chang's press conference on economic matters, opting to send a protest delegation to Prime Minister Kim Jong Pil.
The NCNP responded that the rally was a total 'failure' since there was no outstanding support from the general public. Party spokesperson Chung Dong Young announced in a statement, 'The physical brawl was cause by tramps and has nothing to do with the government at all. GNP members should stop blaming us without any proper reason, rather they must enter the National Assembly in order to discuss the current economic problems.'
