Some Jobs are Still Not Popular

Although Korea is currently suffering an extensive economic recession with 1.6 million currently unemployed, there are still some jobs remaining, the Seoul Labor Market Bank said on October 6.
Occupations such as telemarketing and certain trades like plumbers and electricians, have a greater demand than supply. Firms are finding it hard to fill positions. The employment bank currently had 975 positions from 50 different job fields, but there were only 729 applicants for the final interviews out of the 4,000 who initially applied. The rest dropped out, presumably, because of excessively high standards of renumeration.
Especially in the areas of telemarketing, the construction trade, merchandize sales, general trade, guide, and plastic surgery technicians were hard-pressed to find even trainees.
Those jobs are generally considered to have low salaries, uncomfortable environments, a simple repetitive nature, and frequent overtime.
President Kim Dae Jung recently asserted in his economic interview, '100,000 people can easily get a job if they lower their high standards on occupations.'
