Private Security Services Widen

Starting in 1999, the public police security system will gradually fade away while private security companies such as 'S-1' and 'Caps' take over governmental institutions.
The Budget Planning Committee on October 6 announced that they decided to promote the public managemental restructuring so that they can reduce the auxiliary police force by the year 2000.
The auxiliary police force currently stands at 30,000 officers. They are in charge of maintaining security at public offices and financial buildings. Though they are a private company, they are administered by the regular police force. The owners of the buildings were charged a high fee for the auxiliary police forces salaries but could not intervene in the control or practices of the squad. If smoothly changed to private manpower, the curtailed budget for security is estimated at 200 million dollars.
Some private citizens will also be permitted to carry weapons if they qualify and are designated as an expert security officer.
