Tourism Trade Surplus Biggest Ever
The surplus or travelers to Korea this year might be the biggest ever, the Korea Tourism Authority forecasted on October 7.This is because the number of foreign travelers greatly increased due to the Korean currency exchange downfall while Korean tourists traveling abroad steeply fell.
According to the Tourism Authority, the tourism surplus had reached 2.1 billion dollars as of August.
This number is even higher than that of 1988's 1.9 billion dollars which featured the Seoul Olympic Games.
So far this year, 2.75 million foreigners have visited Korea and by the end of the year, it is expected to reach more than 4.25 million, the biggest ever.
