Construction Industry Wooing Japanese Investors

Construction companies are making efforts to attract Japanese funds. The construction arm of Samsung Corporation is negotiating with three to four Japanese trade corporations. Hyundai Engineering & Construction is also in negotiations with a Japanese company which wants to invest billions of won in a large scale project in Pusan that Hyundai will build.
Ko Byung Woo, the head of Dongah Construction visited Japan with President Kim Dae Jung and tried to receive orders from Japanese companies and local governments. The Korea Construction Association and Japan Construction Abroad Association agreed on plans that will see Japanese companies participating in Korea's social overhead capital construction.
The Korea Land Cooperation (KOLAND) participated in a real estate team that also went to Japan with the President and made efforts to introduce Japanese capital. The Cheju branch of KOLAND held an investment seminar in Tokyo on September 21 and in Osaka on the 22nd.
