Foreigners" M&A Investment in Korea Increased

Foreigners' M&A (Merger and Acquisition) Investment toward Korean companies increased this year.
From January to August this year, foreign investment by way of M&As amounted to 930 million dollars, 22.7% of the total foreign investment in Korea (4.1 billion dollars). Last year, foreign investment through M&As totaled 699 million dollars, 10% of total foreign investment (6.9 billion dollars).
These figures were obtained through the Ministry of Industry and Energy in a report submitted to NCNP lawmaker, Chon Jong Bae, on October 14.
Foreign investment by countries, as of August-end, had the U.S. with the biggest at 1.59 billion dollars, followed by Japan at 409 million dollars and the European Union with 1.678 billion dollars.
