Gov"t Arrested 373 Officials for Corruption

The total number of arrested officials has reached 373 since the current administration was formed. Among them, 80% are middle and low ranking officials.
The Central Investigation Department (CID) of the Public Prosecutions Administration (PPA) revealed on October 20 that 373 have been prosecuted on suspicion of corruption since last February. Construction-related officials recorded the most charges at 127 (34%), followed by investigation officials (38), tax related charges (22), judiciary members (22), and health and environmental offences (20).
The arrested officials, a source at the prosecutor's office said, 'used their authority to amass wealth. Some disrupted investigations by damaging evidence and threatening witnesses.' The PPA plans to continue investigating official corruption by allocating prosecutors to 16 different divisions.
