Kim Young Sam Regime to Live in Infamy in School Texts
The Kim Young Sam regime will be recorded in school textbooks as one of the worst. They will be remembered as the government which brough cruel economic turbulence to the nation, the Ministry of Education said on October 27.According to the Ministry, the new 1999 edition textbooks will include Kim's administration as 'The one which caused foreign exchange fluctuations and inept dealings with the worsening international situation.'
The expression 'The government which was incompetent in handling the economic environment' will certainly cause controvertial debate since the trial of former vice prime minister, Kang Kyong Shik, has not yet been concluded.
In addition to that, the fact that Korea recieved an International Monetary Fund(IMF) bailout last year will also be in the history textbooks.
In the section for the current Kim Dae Jung administration, students will read 'The first opposition party ever to assume political power and execute the true sense of democracy and a market economy.'
