EU to Lift Import Controls on Korean Color TV Sets

The European Union(EU) will lift the regulations on import controls for Korean made color TV sets by the end of this year.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on October 28, Minister Hong Soon Young took part in a Korean-EU ministerial meeting held in Brussels on October 27 and discussed ways of cooperation in political, economical, and trade fields.
At this meeting the EU side was said to press its opinion on lifting regulations on Korean made TV sets. Furthermore, the EU promised to support the Korea Energy Development Organisation(KEDO) project in building a light water reactor in North Korea.
Minister Hong explained the economic reform policies that the Korean government is now carrying out and asked for investments into Korea.
The EU side was said to support the Korean government's attempt to propel both democracy and a market economy.
Minister Hong had another meeting with Belgian foreign minister, Erik Derycke, to discuss plans for mutual cooperation in overcoming the financial crisis in Korea.
