Korean Media Summit for American Businessmen

The Korean Media Summit jointly sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) and JoongAng Ilbo was held in Seoul on November 11. At this event, 150 American businessmen including Jeffrey D. Jones, the chairman of AMCHAM participated.
The participants discussed the present economic situation and assessed predictions for Korea's economic recovery. Korean media gathered foreign companies' impressions of the media and discussed problems and ways to improve Korean media.
Dr. Hong Seok Hyun, CEO/Publisher & President of JoongAng Ilbo, said, 'JoongAng Ilbo maintains the principle of a market economy thoroughly. This direction of the newspaper will be unshakable.'
A Korean media overview was presented by Kim Young Hie, a JoongAng Ilbo executive director, and the outlook for the Korean economy by Kim Chung Su, a JoonAng Ilbo correspondent on economic affairs. Another Korean Media Summit for the members of the Japan Club is scheduled for November 13.
