Total University Enrollment for 1999 is 371,000
The University Education Association on November 12 released the enrollment figures and entrance requirements of 184 universities nation-wide for 1999. The total enrollment increased from 362,000 in 1998 to 371,000 in 1999.Assuming that 60% of the 868,000 high school graduates will apply to universities, the competition rate in total will decrease from 1.73:1 to 1.65:1. Applicants will receive a composition test in order to enter 31 universities including Seoul National University. The number of universities which requires students to write composition tests decreased by one compared to 1997.
