Chairmen of Chaebols Are Overworked?

Some chairmen of chaebol groups are too busy.
Kim Woo Jung (62), the chairman of Daewoo group and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), had a brain operation on November 15 to remove a build up of fluid.
The surgery was successful and his prognosis good so he is expected to work again soon.
Apparently his condition was due to stress and overwork.
His schedule came to be so tight since August when the restructuring for the five biggest chaebols was accelerated that he was exhausted.
Koo Bon Mu (54), chairman of LG group, has not gone to sleep before midnite since the IMF bail-out late last year.
So much important and critical work still awaits him.
He is now personally supervising such projects as the merger with Hyundai Electronics Co and the inflow of foreign capital from British Telecom (BT).
Son Kil Seung (57), chairman of SK group, is recently having dinner twice an evening.
Once for employees, and another with people outside his business group.
He naps in his car or office to compensate for the lack of sleep.
Lee Kun Hee (56), chairman of Samsung group, has recently commenced a '24 hour working system'.
He is now told to be working at home through an on-line intranet system connected to businesses through out Samsung group.
He is famous for having long discussions with the presidents of subsidiaries until 2 or 3 o'clock a.m. if necessary.
Chung Joo Young (83), honorary chairman of Hyundai group, begins work everyday at 7 a.m. with out exception despite his age.
