Heavy Fines for Unfair Trade Practises of Chaebols Motor Companies

The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) imposed large scale fines for unfair business and trade practises by chaebol motor companies. The authorities imposed a 1.9 billion won fine on Daewoo Auto Sales, 120 million won fine on Samsung Motors. It revealed that Daewoo forced their employees in other subsidiary companies to buy its products.
The FTC also imposed 120 million won in fines on four subsidiaries of Samsung: Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung Precision Chemicals, Samsung Fire & Marine, and Samsung Life Insurance. These companies lent 977 million won at low interest rates to their employees who bought Samsung Motors products. Additionally, the authorities warned the parts maker supplier of Hyundai Motor Co. because it is suspected that Hyundai forces the employees of its parts maker to buy Hyundai cars.
