LG to Supply LCD to U.S. Aviation Firm
LG Electronics signed a contract with the world famous aviation-electronic manufacturer APC to exclusively supply TFT-LCD(thin film technology-liguid crystal display) screens used in airplane odometers for 3 years.LG had recently exported 11 milion dollars worth of LCDs to the U.S. company and will send more than 16 different models, equivalent to 120 million dollars.
APC is requesting that LG extends the contract to 10 years.
TFT-LCDs are used by the military in fighter aircrafts and are at least five times more expensive than regular LCD monitors and capable of resisting changes in pressure and withstanding a sizable amount of damage.
