Kidney Donation an Act of Love

A wife wanted to donate her kidney to her husband who, frustrated by the failure of his business, was suffering ill health. Unfortunately, her kidney was judged to be incompatible for her husband so doctors rejected her as a donor. Another donor was found for her husband.
In an ultimate act of sacrifice, Lee Mi Jung, a 40 year-old housewife, instead donated her kidney to another 45 year-old woman on November 25. Lee Jung Hwa, her husband, recieved a kidney donated by 48 year-old Jang Chun Gi, on the same day.
Mr. Lee, whose business bottomed out at the end of last year, had lost 500 million won . He became seriously ill from stress and high blood pressure which eventually led to renal failure.
Mrs. Lee said, 'I was really upset when I saw my husband's face becoming black because of his malfunctioning kidney. At first, I wanted to donate my kidney to my husband but it was not possible because I was ruled an incompatible donor or the wrong type. So, I decided to donate my kidney to another patient, instead, in order to save somebody else's life.'
As of now, five husbands and eight wives have donated their kidneys for their spouses. Last year, the number was four and 17, respectively.
