Korean Contemporary Art Exhibition Opens

The Samsung Museum of Modern Art's first exhibition, titled '1998 Korean Contemporary Art-Poetics of Time' is being held from November 27 to January 24, 1999 at Hoam Art Hall at the JoongAng Ilbo building in Soonhwa-dong, Seoul.(photo)
The exhibition's works will be from a variety of disciplines ranging from paintings, photography, installation art to videos and movies of 10 Korean contemporary artists.
One of the outstanding works contributed by the ten participants, is Korean-American Paik Nam June's 'Egg', which shows a naked woman inside an egg symbolizing a new beginning for female artists in Korea.
Han Myung Ok, who works in France, is also expected to attract a great deal of attention. She entangles thread to make various shapes and representing, among other things, the eternal nature of time.
Kim Soo Ja's video 'Cities on the Move' captures her own odyssey in which she traversed 2,727km around the nation. She exhibited this work recently at the Sao Paolo Exhibition in Brazil.
