Europe Lifts Anti-dumping Measures Against Korean TVs

Korean television exports have been finally freed from their anti-dumping shackles.
Just after the United States decided to rescind its anti-dumping decision on Korean imported TV sets, the European Union(EU) on December 1 concluded to lift their restrictions on Korean items.
So it is likely that Korea TV makers will resume direct exports to the European market again.
According to analysts in the home appliance sector, the EU's Executive Committee ruled that the 1.8% and 1.4% margin rates that Samsung and LG TV use do not constitute an intention of dumping.
The EU deems margin rates exceeding a 2% margin level as dumping.
However, Daewoo and Chinese TVs were assessed at over the 10% level while Thailand and Malaysia were over 3%, therefore it is impossible for those members to bring their products directly into Europe.
Korean TV makers have been prohibited to directly export to Europe since 1990.
Samsung Electronics' manager Chung Choong Ki remarked, 'We will now be able to directly send new digital TVs.'
