High and Low-end Electronic Goods are Selling

A polarizing tendency in electronic goods consumption is widening in the market. Luxury goods targeting high level consumers and inexpensive products are selling like hot cakes whereas middle price goods are remaining on the shelves.
This tendency stems from the high purchasing power of the upper class. A marketing expert said, 'People in the upper class are still enjoying strong buying power whereas people in the middle and lower classes prefer cheaper products.'
Samsung Electronics revealed that it received more than 1,000 orders for projection TVs worth three to 5.6 million won each. LG Electronics said that the market portion of big size and high quality TVs reached 40% whereas that of the middle price products stayed around 10%. The number of Dios, a large size refrigerator, LG has sold the past month reached 2,500. Additionally, 10.5 million won laptop computers have seen sales reach more than 1,300 units the past five months.
Cheap goods are selling well, too. Samsung's 180,000 won TV set has had 10,000 units sell per month. The sales of LG's small and low price TVs are 40% of the total sales of this company.
