Vocational School Enrollment Swelling

Many graduates from academic high schools prefer to get jobs rather than to enter colleges. The number of applicants for vocational schools by students in academic high school reached 2,840. This number is staggering considering that the total enrollment for Seoul's vocational schools was only 2,190.
The most popular departments were bakery and cosmetics and hairstyling. The newly opened two year-long schools are very popular.
Choi Chang Sun, the principal of Ahyun vocational school said, 'This increase stems from the fact that students do not want to spend much money on college programs which cannot guarantee jobs.' Kim Jong Kwan, an official of Seoul Education Administration commented, 'Many students apply to certain vocational schools which can offer graduates a better chance to get jobs.'
Vocational school students should attend a class at their original academic high school every Monday and participate in vocational school classes from Tuesday to Saturday.
