1st Japanese Movie Attracts Few
'Hana-bi', the first Japanese movie to open in Korea since Korea was liberated from Japan over a century ago is not playing to packed theaters. (photo)On December 5, the movie's opening day, Piccadilly Theater was over half empty and a similar situation occurred on the 6th.
This is contrasted with the hot competition the Japanese media are trying to portray on the first Japanese movie in Korea.
The Japanese media is showing serious interest on the movie's debut with all major broadcasting companies providing coverage.
But the interest shown by Koreans on the Japanese movie was anything but hot but rather lukewarm.
Earlier, movie industry analysts predicted that 'Hana-bi' would draw at least 100,000 people.
Now, those same analysts are saying that the movie will have difficultlies attracting 50,000 viewers.
