Japanese Woman Donates 5 Million Yen to Comfort Women Committee

A 75-year-old Japanese woman donated 5 million yen (about 53 million won) to determine more clearly the truth about the Japanese military forces' use of sex slaves during World War Two.
The Korea Committee on The Comfort Women Issue announced on December 10 that the Japanese woman, who requested anonymity, donated the money last month and the Committee will use the money to create an educational center for comfort women's rights.
The Committee explained that the Japanese woman saw a program dealing with the sex slave issue in August 1991 and decided to donate the money to Korea.
The Committee will open an educational room in March 1999 on Chung Jeong Road, a major thoroughfare in downtown Seoul.
