KOSPI Skyrockets to Year"s Highest Mark
The Korean Stock Price Index(KOSPI) recorded its highest mark this year as the stock market continues to soar.The composite index increased by 20.5 points to close at 579.86.
This figure is the highest mark recorded since the 606.06 points on October 23, 1997.
Investors' deposits with securities companies broke the five trillion won barrier on December 14, the largest in its history.
The total volume transaction recorded 331.1 million shares, the third largest in its histroy.
The value of shares traded was 3.9 trillion won, the second largest amount recorded.
A stock expert said, 'On the 11th and 14th, the market showed signs of a correction but the market shrugged it off and shot up again.'
The interest paid on bonds also increased. The yield on public bonds and company bonds increased by 0.15% point to 6.95% and by 0.1% point to 7.9%, respectively.
