Rosy Future for Semiconductor Exports

On December 16, the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) predicted that semiconductor exports will increase by 11 percent.
The KSIA expects exports to reach 16.4 billion dollars this year and rise by 11 percent to 18.2 billion dollars in 1999.
Exports of 64 mega DRAM memory products will grow by 10.2 percent to 6.5 billion dollars and that of non-memory products will increase by 11.1 percent to one billion dollars.
The association also expects the price of DRAM, the main export item, to grow a little but an over-supply tendency will occur, again, during the first half of 1999 as Korean and Japanese companies produce fourth generation products at full-throttle.
