Korean Cars Popular in Europe

Korean small cars such as the Daewoo Matiz and Hyundai Atoz are actively invading the European automobile market.
Last month, Korean automobile exports to 17 western European countries marked 29,821 units, 29.1 percent more than that of last year.
As of November 1998, the year's total had reached 348,358 units, 31.4 percent up from the same period in 1997.
A source from the European Car Manufacturures' Association, stated Korea finished first in this area, surpassing Japan. Japan raised its export ratio by 8.6 percent this year.
The steady exchange rate has also helped Korean progress in Europe.
Volkswagen topped all car sales with 2.4 million units in the western European market followed by General Motors.
