Hefty Heifers: Korean Cows Surpass 500 Kilograms in Weight

The average weight of a Korean cow surpassed 500 kilograms for the first time.
According to a report from the Association for Livestock, 10,000 Korean cows were weighed during the months of July and August; the weight of the 18 month-old cows averaged 505 kilograms.
In 1977, the average weight of a Korean cow was no more than 305.7 kilograms.
A source at the Association for Livestock said, 'This result stems from the continuous efforts to improve Korean cows since the Association set up an institute for improvement at Seosan, South ChungCheong province in 1979.'
