Namgoong Soek Named New Information Minister

President Kim Dae Jung appointed Nam Goong Seok , 60, photo, president of Samsung Data System(SDS), as the new minister of Information and Communications on December 21.
Nam Goong was nominated by Prime Minister Kim Jong Pil before the cabinet council and the president fully endorsed the proposal.
Assemblyman and Blue House spokesperson Park Ji Won said, 'Namgoong is an outstanding expert on the information industry's future. His way of thinking deeply penetrates issues and he has commanding power. President Kim was sorry that former-Minister Bae Soon Hoon resigned, whom he personally picked, and decided to support the business leader's nomination.'
President Kim officially appointed Minister Namgoong early in the morning on December 21 at Chong Wa Dae (the Blue House).
Namgoong is from Yongin, Kyunggi Province and graduated from Sunrin Information High School and Korea University where he majored in business administration. He also studied at the University of Illinois in the U.S.
