Kia Focuses on Main Items to Survive

Kia Motors, which was taken over by Hyundai Motor Company, will concentrate on selling its main models such as the 'Carnival' to survive.
In the past, 50,000 Carnivals were produced a year, but the company will raise production to more than 80,000 units and export models to Canada and the United States will be equipped with Hyundai Dynasty's 3500cc engine.
However, Kia will not be considering merging all sales and production lines with Hyundai in the near future.
Kia's president, Kim Soo Jung, said in a December 22 interview, 'In terms of the Carnival, we concluded that it can compete in the North American market by maintaining the Kia brand for years.'
He added, 'Kia is producing 800,000 units and there will be no further layoffs.'
