Rep. Kim Yun Hwan to Face Bribery Charges

The prosecutor's office requested warrants for the arrest of three representatives including Rep. Kim Yun Hwan, photo, a leader of one faction in the opposition Grand National Party (GNP) on December 22.
The Central Investigation Department (CID) of the National Prosecution Administration requested a warrant for Rep. Kim on suspicion of receiving a bribe from Kim Chan Du, the chairman of Duwon Group before the 1996 representatives election.
Seoul District Court requested the National Assembly's permission to arrest him as is required by law. The CID argued that Rep. Kim received three billion won and promised Chairman Kim that he would recommend him as a representative candidate.
The CID also argued that Rep. Kim received 300 million won from Lee Kwang Jo, the chairman of Poongsung Inc.
