Samsung to Supply $220 Million of CDMA Facilities Down Under

Samsung Electronics Co. will supply 220 million dollars worth of CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) facilities to Australia.
According to the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication (MOIT) on December 23, Samsung Electronics Co. was finally chosen as the facility supplier for Hutchinson, a mobile telephone provider in Australia.
Accordingly, Samsung will export the telecommunication facilities over a two-year period beginning in the year 2000.
Samsung Electronics explained that the order is very meaningful as it beat out such famous competitors as Motorola, Lucent and Nortel.
According to MOIT, the amount of CDMA system exports which Korea succeeded in commercializing for the first time in world markets recorded 1.845 million dollars in 1996 and 29.873 million dollars through September of this year.
