Stronger Protection for Minors

Those who employee individuals below the age of 19 in the red-light industry will face stricter punishment starting July 1, 1999.
Additionally, adults who arrange sexual acts with juveniles will be sentenced to between not less than one year and not more than 10 years imprisonment.
The National Assembly passed the revised bill for the protection of minors on December 24.
The new law also encompasses new regulations on the distribution of pornagraphy and other inappropriate material to minors. Offenders could face punishment of up to three years imprisonment or be fined up to 20 million won.
