Nine Atomic Power Plant Venues Rescinded

The government on December 29 announced the cancelation of nine proposed national atomic power plant locations including Samchok in Kangwon Province and Haenam, South Cholla Province. The release will be in effect from January 1, 1999.
The Ministry of Industry and Energy appointed these venues as possible candidates in October 1981.
People in the area will now be able to excercise their right to sell or rebuild property from now on.
The government will enlarge the size of the Uljin Plant until 2030 to meet electricity demands.
