"Food Support to NK Will Be Maintained"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT) revealed on December 29 that the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) denied the allegations in Nihon Geizai's report which stated that the IFRC halted its food support to North Korea.
A source at MOFAT said, 'Hiroshi Higashiura, the chairman of Asia Pacific Affairs at the IFRC explained that the IFRC did not plan to stop providing food aid towards the North.'
A source at the IFRC said, 'The monitoring of distribution of food and medical supplies in North Korea suggests that it is proceeding satisfactorily.'
The federation plans to announce another aid program of nine million dollars to distribute provisions to more than 1,600 medical institutions.
