The 1st Conflict in the National Assembly

The first day of the National Assembly in 1999 began with great trouble. The 'nuclear explosion' was ignited by the opposition Grand National Party (GNP) representatives' forceful entrance into room 529 in the National Assembly on January 2.
The ruling coalition designated this incident as 'destructive behavior of the national law and order' and wants the GNP prosecuted for the matter. It expressed an ultra-hard-line stance about this by saying that it never wants compromises.
The GNP it seems, will not give up the allegations that the Agency for National Security Planning (ANSP) conducted illegal investigations in the National Assembly.
This frontal clash between the ruling and opposition parties will have a serious impact on other legislative works. The passing of bills which awaiting the opening of the National Assembly will no doubt suffer further delays.
The ruling coalition seems to lead the National Assembly by itself.
