Another Lawyer"s Tale of Corruption Hits the Judiciary

A lawyer's secret account book containing many incumbent and former high-ranking officials in the judiciary and the Prosecutor's Office in Taejon has been disclosed. The lawyer, only named Lee, has recorded his sordid story of illegal connections, including kick-backs and bribes with them in this book.
The Public Prosecutor General dispatched a special investigation team to Taejon. The Supreme Court and Korea Bar Association also began investigations.
The book contains the names of two former high-ranking officials in Taejon's Prosecutor's Office. But, it did not record the amount of money given to them. Additionally, it contains 25 more names of justices and prosecutors.
Prosecutors summoned and questioned the lawyer on January 7. He said, 'I have managed all my cases by computer and naturally have destroyed files on occasion. I cannot confirm the contents of the diskette released to the media.'
A former, unnamed secretary in the lawyer's office contacted the media earlier this week and passed on the controversial diskette which contained the account records.
