DJ"s First Ministerial Meeting of 1999
President Kim Dae Jung said, 'The process of employing major officials for the government's ministries should not be unfair nor biased.'Regarding the recent Taejon judicial corruption case, he also ordered Park Sang Chun, minister of law, 'A nation's destiny will be ended, if the judiciary is corrupted. Deal with the case with a resolute attitude, betting on the ministership.'
He added, 'Accordingly, the government will have to be fair in deploying its officials without the old bias of being born in a certain district.'
Concerning the unemployment issue, he said to the minister of construction, 'The minister will have to make decisions with the thought that the government will transfer almost all of the 1999 budget within the first quarter of this year to the ministeries.'
